"Empowering Our Children Through Dance and Arts Education"

 A Dance Arts Scholarship Program

Blossom Sisters Foundation (BSF) LLC is a Charitable Organization, started by the sisters in 2008 dedicated to building and enabling communities to participate in dance art programs who would otherwise
not able to afford it.

Our Mission:
To provide  a dance art program that provides children of disadvantaged families the opportunity to attend dance classes in their community at low or no cost.  Our mission is to build economical dance art enrichment programs for youth at-risk that reside in socioeconomic communities in the NJ and NY areas.

This program is funded in part by Blossom Sisters Foundation (BSF), a Division of Blossom Dance of Hackensack NJ.  *All Donations are Tax Deductible*.
The foundation offers full and partial scholarships that enables disadvantaged and low-income families to attend dance classes in the community of Hackensack as well the surrounding areas of  NJ & NY.  Children will have the opportunity to take classes, in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Drama at low or no cost to parents. BSF Offers Workshops Via satellite to the Urban communities of NY and NJ.

Parents must meet scholarship criteria and sliding fee guidelines according to income and family size.  All applicants must demonstrate eligibility before being enrolled into the program.

Why Do Children Need Dance Art Education?

Statistics show 60% of our urban youth and teens that are not involved in extracurricular activities are more likely to engage in more computer games and excessive Internet use; viewing more television and become involved in a negative environment.
Additionally, statistics show 40% of youth that are involved in extracurricular tend to be on track academically, have a better attitude in school and better attitude towards their family and peers.
Extra-curricular activities such as dance, empowers our children by promoting critical thinking, while providing a positive outlet to enjoy productive programs with their peers.

Our Let’s Dance! Scholarship will help a child attend a dance program, which provides formal dance instruction that will help build self-confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline in our youth.

 Recent Partnerships and Accomplishments

January-June 2009, Blossom Sisters Foundation, (BSF) provided scholarships to thirteen girls (ages, 11-14) of the Lodi , NJ Recreational Center, to attend dance classes at no cost. Commencement of the dance classes resulted in a great ballet/lyrical performance in our annual June 2009 recital. We are pleased to extend this opportunity to the Lodi Recreational Center and it was pleasure working with the girls. Their experience will create a lifetime of memories.

Why Do we need Mentoring in our Community?

  • Teenagers and young adults were more likely to become victims of violent crime than older persons. In 1998, about a third of all victims of violent crime were ages 12 to 19 and almost half of all victims of violence were under age 25. (Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice)
  • The percent of students reporting street gang presence at school nearly doubled between 1989 and 1995, increasing from 15.3% to 28.4%. (Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice)
  • Nationally, nearly one million young women under age 20 become pregnant each year. That means close to 2800 teens get pregnant each day. Facts in Brief: Teen Sex and Pregnancy, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1996).

Message From The Founders

Thank you for your interest in our Foundation. My sister and I would like to express our gratitude on becoming educated in our foundation.  We started this foundation in late 2008, to help fund DanceArts Education for the disadvantaged, Youth and Low income families. Our Arts program is designed to help strengthen and develop Self-Esteem, Self Confidence, Self-discipline through art and dance expression.  Our goal is to empower our children through art and dance education.

Since we have been in the dance world, we have seen kids drop out of our program due to financial circumstances.  Blossom Dance is an affordable dance program in the community and our scholarship program will allow children to attend dance and art programs within our organization. Our children are in need of extra curricular activities, and programs such as Blossom, allow the children to stay focus on positive activities, such as dance.

The foundation was created to provide children with an arts program and to assure that the youth have an opportunity to participate in the arts world.  We believe every child has creativity within, and our program will allow them to express and create through dance expression. Your contribution ensures our continued success in the community.

From our heart, to yours, keep dance in your heart.
